Sustainability

National and international policy is increasingly aimed at reversing unsustainable trends in a range of sectors including transport, agriculture, energy and construction.  Trends in fiscal and regulatory policy are to tax pollution and inefficiency, and impose higher targets for environmental and social responsibility, to raise overall standards in sustainability.

Within this overall context, ARK’s policy on sustainability (PDF, 229k) describes how we will seek to address the issues of sustainability and integrate them into our day-to-day activities and longer term planning, so that we may contribute to meeting the long term needs of tenants, people who use our services and the communities within which we operate.

By ‘sustainability’ we mean:

“The capacity of an organisation to continue to deliver social, economic and environmental value into the long-term future.”
