ARK Services Ltd is a charitable company limited by guarantee and is a wholly owned subsidy of ARK Housing Association Ltd. It was set up to take advantage of Communities Scotland subsidies which were not available to Housing Association for the provision of special needs housing.
ARK Service has recently completed its 4th development in Aberdeen all of which have been developed in partnership with the City of Aberdeen Council, Grampian Health Board and Communities Scotland.
These new developments provide community based housing for people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Learning Difficulties.
The developments are innovative in design and incorporate a number of unique design and component specifications, including the use of assistive technology.
The development at Bridge of Don Aberdeen was officially opened on the 15th of July 2004. The 3, single storey blocks containing individual homes for 24 people with higher level of autism and learning difficulties to live as independently as possible.
Torry Aberdeen was opened in February 2004 and consists of 13 bungalows in a courtyard setting for people with autism and learning difficulties.
Linksfield Aberdeen is a development consisting of 3 double story properties providing individual flats for 12 people for people with Autism and learning difficulties
Springhill Aberdeen is a 4 bedroomed purpose built bungalow, providing a community based living for 4 people with learning disabilities
ARK Housing Association provides the development, management and maintenance services for the subsidiary. Support for the tenants are provided by Lenoard Cheshire, Partnership, Capability Scotland, Autism Initiatives, Care Solutions.
