ARK Housing Association Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation established in 1977, works with 13 local authorities in the East of Scotland, providing flexible care, housing and support to people with learning difficulties and others who require assistance to lead lives of their choice.
In 2010, Rymonth Housing Society Limited transferred its assets to ARK, thereby allowing ARK to provide accommodation, care and support for up to 22 individuals in St Andrews. ARK already had several well established services in Fife, and both organisations believed that the transfer represented a positive development for Rymonth’s employees, residents, carers and families, while also providing them with increased security in these challenging economic times. The St Andrews service will continue to be known as Rymonth, in recognition of the level of local interest in its services there.
The Friends of Rymonth, an independent charity comprising people interested in the residents’ welfare, will continue to operate to maintain local connections through befriending and fundraising. ARK intends to build on the strong working relationship between the community and the Friends.
