ARK Housing Association has housing stock in 13 local authority areas on the East Coast of Scotland ranging from the Scottish Borders to Moray in the northeast.
We offer a range of different housing models, from registered care core and cluster and mainstream housing. The majority of our housing stock was built in the 1980’s and consists of both flats and houses.
As historically the majority of ARK tenants received support we have built up considerable experience and expertise in working with organisations who provide support and statutory bodies including Social Work departments and Health Boards.
This geographic spread allows the organisation to work with a number of different local authorities ranging from smaller rural authorities to large urban authorities. Through the development of both internal and external practice networks we are able to utilise and in some cases lead good practice initiatives. We are also therefore well placed to pass these experiences to other organisations.
ARK’s most recent developments have included a person centered design approach, which has enabled the association to produce high quality developments using modern sustainable procurement practices.
All staff share the associations values which are based on John O’Brien’s Five Service accomplishments of
- Sharing ordinary places
- Making choices
- Developing abilities
- Being treated with respect and having a valued social role
- Growing relationships.
The association has a strong and inclusive tenant participation strategy, which encourages active participation for all stakeholders on both an individual and group level.
