Ark's Grangemouth services visit to Whyte and Mackay's Whisky bottling centre
A group of supported people and staff from our Grangemouth services had a fantastic opportunity to visit Whyte and Mackay’s bottling factory right in the heart of their local community.
Whyte and Mackay have bottled their famous Whisky in Grangemouth for many years. The visit was a chance to learn more about how the company operates and meet some of the friendly team behind the scenes. Seeing inside gave everyone a chance to see a different side of their local area and feel more connected to their community.
Margaret, supported person: “The visit was really good”
William, supported person: “I really enjoyed seeing how the machines worked. I was surprised by how big it was!”
The company’s Operations Manager and Bottling Director gave us a fascinating tour of the whole site, where we saw their whiskey be bottled, labelled and boxed up ready to be shipped out across the world.
Gary, Support Worker: “I found it really engaging and the hosts were very welcoming. Our tour guide Kevin was really informative and made the tour interactive for everyone.”
After the tour, we enjoyed chatting with members of Whyte and Mackay’s HR team over coffee and cake. We learned that Whyte and Mackay employ hundreds of people, many from Grangemouth itself. Some local families have worked there for generations, with staff who’ve been part of the team for over 40 years!
Linda, support worker: “We had a brilliant time! The staff who showed us round were very helpful.”
The day left many feeling inspired and curious about what other businesses are doing in the area.
Robert, supported person said he was especially delighted with the complimentary gifts he received from Whyte and Mackay.
A huge thank you to the team at Whyte and Mackay for welcoming us in for the day and showing us the amazing work you do.
